Sand, Sickness, & Sonograms

"For whatever we lose (like a you or a me), it's always ourselves we find in the sea." - E.E. Cummings

I really, really, really love the beach.  The Gulf Coast is one of my very favorite places in the world.  So, when Davis told me several months ago that we would be going to Sandestin for him to work a pharmacy convention, I knew I liked his new job.  :)

Last Tuesday, we made the trek to Florida.  I realized living in Meridian had its perks, since when we were there we were two and a half hours closer, but I digress.  Our great friends, Blair and Austin were there, too, so I knew I had a partner in crime in Blair for 6 hour beach days and dinner dates.  Not to mention Blair brought a cake, which she shared with me.  She really knows the way to a preggo's heart.

The chocolate icing is her grandmother's recipe.  Amazing.
Everything was going splendidly until Thursday...  That's when Davis woke up with the flu.  No one will nominate me for wife of the week, considering I just thought he ate something bad.  We ended up going to the ER that night, and he had a fever of 103.3.  Yup, 103.3.  So, our beach trip was not the relaxing, last vacation without a baby trip that I had envisioned, but that's life, right?  I did still manage to read a couple of books and get some sun on my ghastly legs.  Plus I got a TON of sympathetic looks on the beach as I waddled to and from my beach chair, and even one "Oh, bless her heart."  And, I did have Austin and Blair to hang out and eat meals with.  Davis woke up on Sunday (the day of our departure) all better.  I figured that was better than being sick on the drive home.  Plus he could do the driving!  My driving would have surely made him more nauseous.  :)

Flash forward to today.

Davis and I attended my 30 week appointment today and got to peek at our little fella.  He measured 2 weeks ahead...he is already 3 pounds, 14 ounces!  I haven't quite wrapped my head around the fact that we're going to have a baby in less than two months.  Crazy. His nursery is finally coming along.  I'll post pics when it's complete!

Anyway, that's what's been going on in our world.  Lesson of the week:  if my husband says he is deathly ill, take his word on it (just to be on the safe side).
